Tom,

Yeah, do a Google and punch in 'the music group "The Esquires"',
when the page comes up, go down to the 3rd Title where it says
"Chancellor of Soul", and there it is. Happy Reading! Wink

I think there were probably countless 60s bands with this name. If you mean the surf band from SoCal (Flashin' Red), I think I remember them from Bob Dalley's Surfin' Guitars book. That Durby Wheeler name rings a bell. That's probably the most information you'll find other than the liner notes of the cd.

THAT would be the band, "Flashin' Red" is theirs I know only because Durby is credited.

True there were countless bands named the Esquires (and still are) so hopefully this narrows it down. They were 4 (?) white kids playing Fender equipment . Rolling Eyes

Dennis - thanks but that's not them.

thanks, t

The were at least 2 Esquires in Canada in the 1960's: one from out west, and one from Ottawa. I've got to hang out with the drummer from Ottawa. Richard Patterson is his name, and he's a great player and super nice guy!

Rev,
I had a feeling you might chime in for Canadian Esquires. Wasn't Bruce Cockburn (whatta name) in one of them?

Yep,

Bruce was an Esquire. Hard to imagine him playing Shadows-style instros (though he is a mind melting guitar player). I think he was part of the group near the end, then went on to form Three's a Crowd with the Esquires drummer, and then on to his solo career.

The guy who wrote the Esquires hit (Man From Adano) wrote a tune for our new CD (Renegade), and is going to be a featured guest at our Guitar Fest 4 in May.

THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO EVER!

I heard an incredible version of "Squad Car" last night by the Esquires. Has anyone else heard this version?
