Aloha from the island of Kauai!!!

Below is a pic of SG101's own Ron Roads and the Take-Off's performing at the Sheraton Hotel in Poipu Beach, Kauai on July 1st. Don't let the surf band casual motiff fool you--these guys cand "play." Great live performance. I plan to see them again soon.

I also checked out "Darryl" playing a little Hawaiian Slack-Key guitar at the SeaView Terrace, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Poipu Beach. Nothiing better than drinking Mai Tai's, eating pupu's, and listening to Hawaiin music on a balmy day in Kauai.

Here's the 57 year old "old fart" mixing it up with the young Turks at Waiohai Point. That's me in the middle with the black rash guard and the blue board--the guy to who's trying to snake the wave went on his head. Great wave action but if you don't make the section, the reef is made of broken glass and sea urchins.

Aloha from Paradise--Goober

Saw Ron and the guys last September! Too bad (for us, not for them) they are all the way over in Kauai. I hope to see them again. Someday. Smile

-outsides-

Yeah--they put out real clean tones, especially with the retro surf songs, and their quality of play is on par with some name bands I've heard in So Cal. As far as I can find, the Take-Off's seem to be the only "surf band" regularly playing on Kauai.

Some friends and I are planning to see them again tomorrow night. There's a local micro-brew called "Firerock" made by Kona on the Big Island that goes great with a night enjoying surf music!

Hang loose--

Goober.......Aloha and Thanks for coming in to the Point to check out The TakeOffs......i enjoyed our chat and it looks (from your photo) like you enjoyed the waves!! Kauai is a beautiful place......mahalo for returning each year.....we look forward to seeing you next year.
Thanks "outsides"......it's our goal to write a song good enough to get us over to the mainland and play someday.....gotta get a song on the radio!!! OR.....jus' cruise right where we are and meet great folks just like you guys!
Aloha,
R-R

Ron:

Last night's performance was great! Got to talk with Bill during one of your breaks--tell him "hey" and Mahalo. You should post "Rifle Range" to SG101, I think its a cool surf tune!

Here's a pic from last night, as well as a sunset shot we took before your show.

Thanks again. Mike
