Permalink Bunch of new songs by the Madeira from Friday's show in Bloomington, IN

New Topic

The Madeira played Bloomington, IN for the first time on Friday, and the show was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! 100 people there, many dancing (many women!), and the local surf heroes Thee Aquaholics and The Katatonics kicking serious behind - it doesn't get much better than this! (See my fuller review of the show here: http://surfguitar101.com/forums/post/336481/) Chris Miller drove from Louisville, KY to be at the show (wow! thanks, Chris!), and shot a bunch of videos, now on YouTube. It's all new tracks, intended for our next album, to be recorded in March.

The songs are:

  1. "Journey to the Center of the Surf"
  2. "Siren Song" (working title only - to be changed) - co-written with Danny Snyder!
  3. "Coral Island" - cover of the 1963 Atlantics song
  4. "Caravela" - already appeared on Sonic Cataclysm
  5. "Farthest Shore" - ditto
  6. "Leviathan"
  7. "The Argonaut" - co-written with Jim Skiathitis of the Atlantics!
  8. "Ancient Winds" (just a fragment of the song) - title track of the next album

Enjoy!

Awesome Show Cool You had that crowd Moving! The Material keeps getting better. Good time to be a Spectator of the Surf. Look for Thee Aquaholics too man, they were awesome. And guy who has his face bloodied, STILL gets on stage and puts on an incredible performance is OK in my book.

Thanks, all, and especially Chris AKA EnigmaticMC for all the videos! Chris just uploaded two more (I think these are the last ones): Tribal Fury and Everybody Up!, the first two songs of our Friday's set. Enjoy!!

And yes, Chris, 'vertical transfer of all mass is indeed encouraged'!!! LMAO

(BTW, I'm using my SG101 '65 AVRI Strat on Tribal Fury. Cool )

Thank you VERY much, Ariel, it makes me truly happy that you think so! We're very excited about the new material, and can't wait to record it all. Mid-March!

You gotta tour that new album on the heels of the other one UP HERE! (or I gotta get a sked so I can see how far I can drive south... YIKES!)

All great but a couple stand out. Siren's Song has a lovely moody periphery to it. (Patrick's rhythm treatment is super cool.) The other is Argonaut; has an Atlantics flavor to it, drenched in the Madeira sauce. Would be interested to hear about that collaboration with Jim.

Man, 2015 is shaping up to be an awesome year already!
Cheers

"It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea

This is the first I've had an opportunity to give these a listen. I'm really looking forward to the new album, but gotta admit this music is made to be heard from the front row. There go my speakers, again. But what a way to go! Fantastic songs and performances. Congratulations!

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Gentlemen, thank you very much! I'm really glad to see you like the new songs. I think the Bloomington show is the best we've ever played them, so it's nice we got it on video. Thank you again, Chris AKA enigmaticMrC!

We have five other new songs we're wrapping up right now, and I'm extremely happy and proud to announce that one of them was co-written with Jeremy DeHart (ex-Aqualads, currently with the Monterreys), and one with Alex Faide (Los Twang! Marvels)!! We're extremely privileged and even blessed that we got to cooperate with these four remarkable individuals (the other two being Danny Snyder and Jim Skiathitis, as mentioned above), and if this album turns out to be our best yet, it'll be in no small part due to their incredible contributions!

Ivan, when you have time, I'd like for you to explain a little bit of the creative process that was involved in these songs.

Well, maybe we should leave a bit of mystery until the actual album comes out. Mr. Green I'll be happy to answer any questions at that time. Sound OK?
