So, The Raveonettes released a new album today, to the surprise of myself an all their other fans. We all knew they were working on a new album and that they premiered a new track last week, but word on the street was that the album was still a few months away.

I'm already about three songs in. As you know, I thought they'd sorta fallen off the wagon but so far this is REALLY sounding good!

Thanks! I just woke up(taking the day off), and we are always late to things on the West Coast.
Translucent vinyl is mine! Also, ordered the regular vinyl.
I checked out the advanced track last week, it was really rad. I'm going to wait until the physical album is delivered to check out anymore.
I love releases like this. Radiohead has done it twice, and Joanna Newsom did as well. It is the only way to excite anyone anymore. I remember going to midnight releases and just hoping to get your hands on the album, it was the best(worst if you didn't get a copy...)

Their last album was, in this man's opinion, hand's down their best!
1.) Observator
2.) Raven in the Grave
3.) Pretty in Black(if you skip My Boyfriend's Back, which I do)
4.) Whip it On(technically not an album...)
5.) In and Out of Control
6.) Lust Lust Lust
7.) Chain Gang of Love
Just had to disagree with you!

Oh wow, mine would go something like
1) Lust Lust Lust
2) Whip it On
3) Pretty in Black (If you skip My Boyfriend's Back, yeah definitely)
4) Chain Gang Of Love
5) Observator
6) Raven in the Grave
7) In and Out of Control
Though I will admit that I probably have to give Observator some more attention. The first track is good.
Time will tell, but so far I'd slip this one underneath Pretty In Black

Chain Gang is the only one that isn't my favorite album WHEN I listen to it. So, Lust Lust Lust, is my favorite when I put the disc on. The song Lust... absolutely brilliant. Aly Walk With Me, the Letterman performance of that... damn!!!!

I lied, I downloaded and listened to the album. Just... hooray.
Raveonettes are one of the very few bands that has progressively improved and has continued to release great music while exploring new sounds. Each album has its own unique sound, which is really unheard of in music. To the lay-person they probably sound the same, but to the fan they are each unique.
Really liking the visuals that accompany the album, Pe'ahi, but the potential darkness of it wrapped in a blanket of ethereal beauty with veins of chaos.

Also, I like how they put the "Explicit" sticker on it. Self-released album, also the sticker is completely non-compulsory. Its probably one of the cleaner Raveonettes albums! Not that they are vulgar, though.

Also... congrats on them self-releasing. The third where they control their own rights. Very cool for them! Radiohead, Oasis(formerly...)/Noel Gallagher, Ryan Adams, Wilco, and the Raveonettes are the only acts that I can think of that license their own music and aren't tied to a label. Anybody know of more that aren't surf bands/sell 10,000+ records?
