Bill from The Crowkeepers, and organizer of this event, just tipped me off to this show review. I must say that it was a bit painful to read. But it does represent a lot of what I am sure many young people would feel after sitting through 6 or 7 hours of instrumental surf music without any familiarity with the genre.

It was written by a really hot young girl who really didnt want to be there... much rather be at Dillard's trying on the latest pair of Jimmy Choo. When I spoke to her with my new guitar player next to me, who is one of the most popular local musicians, as well as drummer/guitar for national act Radical Face... she had no clue who he was... um hello.

I'm way behind on getting pics out for a couple of events (going back to Instro Summit!) and this is among them. When I get them sorted, I'll post them here.

That "review".....ouch.
It was like reading a vegetarian's review of Five Guys.

When I came into work Monday morning a fellow co-worker asked what I did over the weekend. I mentioned I went to a surf band festival in Jacksonville.
He said " are you serious?" (sarcastic tone)......kind of like the tone of this review.

Someone mentioned at the festival last weekend that these 'Surf Fests' end up being Mutual Admiration Societies with some random stragglers. That isn't always the case, but very often proves to be reality. However, it is always nice to get to hang out with so many people we love and admire. With that said, there is a lot to be said for how many of us probably go over better on multi-band bills with varied genres. To a non-surf geek, this genre really does have a tendency to run together.

Just got my pictures all together and wanted to share along with a BIG thanks to Bill for putting this together. The Mystery Men? managed to get a show in Savannah the night before so we had a double great time! We hope the event continues to grow as we'd happily come down and do it all over again!
