Oh, myyy! I'm in love. With the amp!

Here!

I know a couple of folks (serious Fender and Gibson amp devotees) who played through it at the NAMM show and are major stoked about it.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

this Amp sounds insane I am seriously considering buying one or maybe the 12 aviator I need a good roadworthy amp and these totally fit the bill

Facebook pages theSupertones
or @ Timothy C Sullivan

I guess that one would be my next buy! Very Happy
Think about all the nice features for surf music:

Tremolo with Depth and Rate, Reverb with Dwell, Mix and Tone, the Limiter (which I really like on the MicroPro 200) and the Hi-Mid pot (the mids I need)

Totally stoked about this. Did anyone testdrive it?

I played that at NAMM.
It sounded really good. The head version had me intrigued. I'd like to hear/play it in a less cacophonous situation but from what I could tell it sounded great. The reverb and term were well voiced and it was a real pleasure to meet Pat.

This looks like it could be the perfect "grab and go" surf/instro combo amp.

I like it a LOT! Yes

I just received permission to give you the specs on this amp. Here's the brochure for it.

15" Neo Speaker
200 WATTS
35 Pounds
Made in USA
Target price subject to change is $1,299.
Availability by end of year.

Input Modes: Gain 1,2 or Gain 1+2
Supports ALL volume pedals
Bass, Lo-Mid, Hi-Mid, Treble
Limiter for distortion-free sustain
Tremolo with Depth and Rate
Reverb with Dwell and Tone
Master Volume, 0-200 WATTS
6-position foot controller for Ch 1/2, Boost, Limiter, Tremolo, Reverb & FX Loop (extra cost with versions for different instruments)
Effects Loop
Extension Speaker
Direct Out
Fully regulated power supply (works on any AC voltage)
Ballistic-nylon cover - Included
21"X23"X9"
35 Pounds
200 WATTS

I'll say this. If I could only have only one amp to do everything, replace my Music Man 212-130HD for sheer presence, power and tone, have all the features I use from my MicroPro-200, and even replace the Fender Stage 112SE I'm thinking of buying back just for my Bass VI, this amp is it.

Hmmm. I'll get back to you in a few months. Big Grin

Foot pedals of several types will be offered (think pedal steel market) so they will be extra-cost.

Thanks for posting that Noel, I've been searching the internet high and low for just this type of amp so I can retire my heavy weights for something more manageable.

The closest thing Fender have to it is their '65 Twin Custom 15, which has an Eminence 15 instead of Quilter's Neo 15, and weights 29 pounds more. I'd love to hear a side-by-side of these two. But the truth is I just don't want an amp that heavy anymore.

Fender also makes (or made) a steel guitar amp, don't know if it is solid state or tube, never heard one, saw it on their website a while ago.

The really cool thing about Quilter amps is that you can play almost anything through them and they sound great. Accordians, keyboards. Even guitars and basses.

I'll second that! So, that 15" Neo speaker- do you happen to know if it's the one made by Weber, or just the same magnet?

No idea, yet. I'll find out.

I think that's the Steel King. Solid state, 66 lbs, 15" speaker. You can see the specs for it here (I think it's now discontinued).

Our other guitarist Alan is currently using a Quilter Aviator head with various cabs and it sounds great, so I'm definitely interested in the Steelaire 15. The Aviator seems to be more than enough for my needs though, so the Steelaire might have more power than I need and probably more bells / whistles as well.

I'm hoping to purchase an Aviator head in the near future for a back-up for my Fender.

Yeah. That, "more than I need" feeling is a major inhibitor to me too. But if I had only what I actually needed, I'd have a cheap folk acoustic with a clip-on pickup, CV 50's Squier Strat (or new VM Jag) and my old Fender Stage 112SE. I don't really need more than that.

Cost is always an issue with me lately. I like the Aviator head's price point. Seems pretty fair for what all it does and can do.

Actually, I'm now pretty sure the speaker is engineered by Quilter Labs based on their sales wording. I was going build a cabinet with a 15" Weber Neo later this year to go with my MP200, but a single 35 lb. combo is awfully tempting, that weight is really impressive... might be unloading some stuff if I can't shake this thought, yikes. Also, this thing isn't blonde, but it looks really nice in it's own way.

Edit: scratch that, I believe it's a 15" Neo Eminence speaker.

I asked, Mike, but haven't heard back yet (I actually forgot to ask earlier and just did Big Grin ) so I won't get an answer for a little while.

What you said was also my thinking. As much as I love the MicroPro 8", its' speaker isn't really balanced well for low E-E tuning, though it is fine with B-B. It does okay at low-moderate volumes and I'm positive the Direct Out will be excellent. But the speaker isn't really happy at high volumes on the low E string.

My Music Man 212-130HD weighs over 80 pounds, and is just too heavy for me to safely lift into and out of my van anymore. Even the Fender Stage 112SE that made the Bass VI really sound great weighs 46 pounds. That isn't too bad, but 35 pounds is a lot lighter.

The nice thing about Quilter's technology is that their tone sweet spot is everywhere between 1 and 10. Gotta love that. I will really never need an amp this great, but the same can already be said of my MicroPro too. Frankly, if it weren't for the Bass VI, I would have been perfectly happy buying Quilter's MicroPro Extension Cab when (if ever) I needed to be louder and better sounding than the MicroPro by itself.

But with the Bass VI, and knowing how amazing it can sound through a proper speaker, and with the Stage 112SE being so cheap, I'm still trying to decide if that's the way to go, or just wait until the Steelaire enters general order availability, and sell my MicroPro and Music Man to buy one. Tough choice. Having extra amps for when people come over (happening a lot lately) is really convenient. And that may be the deciding factor.

But if I played a lot better and were really going to play the Bass VI out a lot, and if I could justify the cost for those reasons alone, I'd be very hard-pressed not to be doing everything I could to get one. I know all my other guitars will sound amazing through it too.

But like I wrote above, the only gear I actually need, based on what and how I play, is a cheap acoustic with a clip-on pickup, a Squier CV 50's Strat or VM Jag, and the Fender Stage 112SE amp.

Mike, you're a genius. I just heard back that it's a custom Neo Eminence, designed specifically just for this one application.
