WOW, WOW, WOW!!! This track rocks so hard, my ears fell off! Thank Jesus, Buddha, Allah, Yahweh, Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma, Odin, Zeus and Crom that Daikaiju exists! Major kudos for having the cojones to do something different, think outside the box, be creative and extinguish the status quo! Headbang

Thanks-I'd love to do an Insect Surfers vs. Daikaiju show-or maybe even a string of shows-the next time we're out that way!

Really? I would say that a vast majority of all recording "surf bands" today are trying to "extinguish the status quo". Yeah, balls indeed... Whatever The only surf bands being different today are the few of us that try to keep to the roots AND being original.

Yeah, Klas, I believe you nailed it in regard to the trajectory this genre seems to be currently taking.

I find it sad but can't say I'm surprised. What puzzles me is why Jonpaul seems to think it requires balls to do something the majority is already doing.

It's funny, but maybe because I'm here in
So Cal, and there is around 60 surf bands in the
OC/LA area alone.
I see all or almost all of them every year play
At least one show at the surf museum or pier.
Most surf bands here are traditional.
Probably half, another 1/4 a mix of trad. N rock.
And 1/4 are heavy, edgy, or psychedelic.

Of course a good portion of those bands don't have
Cds, and don't post on here, so most of you not from here
wouldn't really Know of them.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

And that's why I wrote "recording surf bands" above. I assume that most of these local trad bands are mainly cover bands without any releases of their own and therefore have very little impact on the genre in a global perspective.

Let's take the ever simmering trad vs prog discussions to another thread shall we? This is about Daikiaju's new release.
