So, folks, nobody has any comments about "Evil A Go-Go"? You get to download for free a lost classic and nothing?? :?:?
Great stuff man! Thanks again!
Immediately warmed up to "Incidente en el Infierno", "Rising of Im Ho Tep", "The Uninvited" and "Addis Abeba". Played "Rising of Im Ho Tep" on the show this week and will be playing more in weeks to come. Thanks again!
Also, WR, thanks for this!

I have finally heard this a few times last night on the way to the to a show. so a real short review. i need to hear it more.
It is by far the best cd of theirs.
and I like, love, and Freaked out for, many of the songs on it.
For the most part the Organ is not to overbearing, and the bongos are tasteful too( man that guy can bang away) although I wished they were a bit up in the mix on a few songs.
The Ali Baba cover rules,
Im not crazy about all the songs, but its not that they suck, just not my cup of tea.
what im gonna do someday is make a comp of the killer tracks from Go Hunting, Evil a go go , and Strike(the early years).
Favorite surf cd of all time, hardly,
really good, definetly
worth downloading, for sure

I'm with Jeff on this one. There are a few that aren't up my alley, but overall, I'm very impressed, especially with "Ali Baba." The bongos are sort of awkward in that one, but I like it. The organ is good - not drowning out the guitar leads.

I finally remembered/got around to downloading the album the other day. Unfortunately I had never heard these guys beforehand, because I like this album a lot. Tons of fun. Thanks for the heads up on the download, Ivan.

I remember checking the pics on their website before and saying "wow, that's what a show is supposed to look like!" I'm sure they just tore it up.
I just picked up their live CD, but haven't had a chance to give it a spin yet, I'll give my impressions when I get a chance to absorb it a bit. Anyone else have it? Thoughts and opinions?

In 2000 the 50 Foot Combo had a fine 7" release on Kamikaze Rec. (Germany): Italian Fuzz/Mickey B's Mambo/Movin'.
And on Drunkabilly Rec. (Belgium) they released an LP and a CD called "Ghent-BXL" in 2002.

I've had the chance to finally give the Live CD a couple of spins, and man it's chock full of what Brian so affectionatley calls "Blistering" tunes. This CD just serves to further prove what a great live band these guys were. Granted, there really isn't a ton of drippy reverb for you purists, but when it comes to up-tempo, well-written instro tunes, this one is a pure gem.
If you can get your hands on it, I give it a hearty

I'm bumping this up primarily for Zak and the Treblemakers crew (but also for anyone that has joined us in the last nine months and didn't see this thread yet). I don't know if you guys have listened to Belgium's Fifty Foot Combo much, but their "Evil A-Go-Go" album from a few years ago is like a spiritual twin to the Treblemakers - tons of fuzz AND reverb, a Leslied-organ, gobs of energy, cool melodies, wild drumming, the whole shebang. And you can download the whole thing for free right here!
Check it out now! You won't be sorry. It's freakin' brilliant.

Oh man, I LOVE 50ft Combo. I thought they were a really great band, I'm kinda flattered you'd compare them to the t-makers. I have a live CD of theirs and it really smokes.
Cool, glad to hear that. Do you have Evil A-Go-Go? If not, did you download it yet? I think it's much better than the live album, actually.

Well, I like the Sir Finks' and the Raybeats' versions better, and the Pollo del Mar one about the same or maybe a little more, but the 50FC definitely do a nice version. Actually, almost any version is kind of fun.
