I like the original blob as well as the re-make. I guess rob zombie was going to direct yet another re-make but that was years ago. Another re-make that has been in the works for years is the evil dead. They almost cancelled the project but they revised the script and are hoping To release it sometime next year.

I caught a few of the Coffin Joe flicks last year or the year before on TCM. Definitely worth the watch.

Rob long since backed out of that remake...But his most recent film, LORDS OF SALEM, is out and worth a look. If anyone is a fan of Argento and Kubrick then I highly suggest it, as it serves as a nice homage.

The Evil Dead 'remake' has since seen the light of day, although not as a remake, but as a continuance. It was just announced that Sam Rammi would be directing Army of Darkness 2, followed by another film that brings the old Evil Dead and the new Evil Dead universes together.

House and House 2 are a couple of good ones to catch.

Fast Cars & Loud Guitars!

Been re-watching all the Argento stuff this week after seeing GOBLIN last week in L.A.

But last night it was back to 60's Gothic Horror with a really nice print I just scored of Riccardo Freda's HORRIBLE DR. HITCHCOCK (1962) starring the lovely Barbara Steele.

Tonight its the sequel, THE GHOST (1963) also directed by Freda and starring the lovely Ms. Steele.

Just watched that on DVD last night, first time since TCM. The intro & credits are WILD. The hell scene in color didn't do it for me, though. The B&W is much more spooky, IMO.

Resurrecting this great thread! I spend October watching classic horror and monster movies, and I could use more of these great recommendations.

Bring 'em on!!

Yep Jamie, it's that time again!
I was 8 and my "big" brother was 11 when our mom would drop us off at the local seedy movie house for matinees like this -

Viy or Forbidden Kingdom 2014

By todays standards of teenage hack and slash it doesn't even qualify as horror, firmly tagged under Adventure and Fantasy. But back in the days of Hammer House of Horror It would be surely classified as horror. A British/Russian collaboration with some dubbed Russian speech it is just like a Hammer House of Horror movie brought up to date with CGI, even the English actors look like Hammer House of Horror characters. Some of the un-dead scenes are pretty trippy. Utter nonsense but I still enjoyed the ride.
