Aloha from Russia!

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1YVBI_n8UyZ4Ijn8iZrKxPuePBGKPT12&feature=view_all

that is not surf actually, but maybe (and i hope) you'll like it anyway!
we're playing funky and groovy things, library, soul etc. stuff. But it always rough, tough and primitive, so just check us!-)

Nizzze! Keep on groovin guys!

www.LosVenturas.be

Listening to Reaction Psychotic, Artiom. Then Great Rivers & Dune. Loving this a lot! Very cool. I'm going to play the rest for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Just what exactly is "library"? I've never heard of that before. Before everyone goes all, "It's where they keep books." on me, I have one, but I mean the music genre if that's what you meant. Big Grin

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

thanks for comments, guys!

Noel, yeah!-) Library is not about books-)
For me, that's like soundtrack for non-existent movie. That's kind of stuff that was composed for some music library, and maybe someday someone will put it in his movie or some TV-programm or whatever.

and here is nice blog about it: http://librarymusicrarities.blogspot.ru/
(to be honest found it few minutes ago, but it looks and sounds really nice)

Holy crap these videos are awesome! Great quality to watch, and I liked ALL the songs! Perfect Booker T nod with 'Smile to Me' and from there it only gets grittier! Nice stuff guys! Thumbs Up

Are you planning on recording/releasing any of this?

hey Wooza, thanks for so nice words!-)
That's funny, but i understood that Smile To Me riff sounds lil' bit like Time Is Tight only after few month of playing it!

yeah, we're planning to release some of these songs. 4 songs should be pressed on 7" on german Mocambo (http://www.mocambo.de/), other 3 on new russian label Magnetic Loft (http://magneticloft.com/) also as 7". Stuff for long play is also 95% ready... I guess we will release it by ourselves as CD.
And right now we're starting video clip filming. I hope it will be watchable-)

It is funny how long-forgotten songs can make their way into ones own compositions. We introduced a new song called 'We Dare not Speak Its Name' earlier this year. Sadly, we only recently realized the blatant similarity to another very notable surf song. Now we are doing some tweaking to put a bit more of our mark on the song.

THE KBK ... This is the last known signal. We offer Sanctuary.

haha, yeah, exactly!

but to my mind, that's not really bad, that's respect to all these guys who start all this, so why not!

hi there!

here comes our debut video!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch1jO0c_q7g

actually, that's not a serious music video, but just footage from our rehearsal room... but watch it anyway, to check our "studio"-sound at least!-)

all comments will be appreciated and are highly welcome!-)

Artiom from The Great Revivers was 2 days in Belgium. Yesterday we met in Antwerp, we exchanged records and had a fun afternoon with some good beers. I now have all (7) Great Revivers singles. For those of you how are in for some groovy/funky/soundtrack instros, I deeply recommend this stuff.

You can find it most of it at dustygroove.com

Welcome to sg101, Springo_Starr! Very glad you're here. I also can't believe no one thought of your alias before. Cool!

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

I love that coinage 'Library' for would-be soundtrack music! Maybe "Archive" would also make sense in English. Is "Return of Grteen Snake" in that genre?
Music which sounds 'filmic' is lots of fun on many levels. One of my favorite albums is the 2009 soundtrack for "Le mani destre recise degli ultimi uomini"- a 'Giallo' film never produced or even written. Music tells its own story.

Great Revivers are a real party band! It's a joy to see how you have such a ball playing and how enthusiastic the audience is. I sense a lot of confidence and intelligence among you lads. I guess dumb guys don't form bands in Russia, 'cause I have yet to see one. Whereas in America... different scene, different expectations.

hey guys!

thanks for promo, Christoph!-)

yeah, Archive fits well, as well-)
Return of Green Snake... well, i don't mind... i'm 100% sure that i buged guitar line from somewhere. Get out from my brain archive-)
it sounds enough library, to my taste.

but you are mistaken about russian bands. There are a lot of shitty stuff here. As in every other country-)

btw. if you missed it, watch second GR video:

Winter season begins for Russia’s Pacific surfers
imageSurfing Vladivostock in December

Watching your videos, I saw a 12" guitar speaker attached to the front of the bass drum on "Dipsoteque". What is that for?

oh, well, we used it instead of bass drum mic.
Guys said, that they saw pictures from Abbey Road, where they did it in such way.

like this: http://medias.audiofanzine.com/images/normal/native-instruments-abbey-road-modern-drums-206699.jpg

i'm not really big specialist in this stuff... I like how bass drum sounds on that record. But is it because of speaker or not, i don't know-)

I wonder if Jensens or JBLs sound more 'surf' as bass drum pickups than Celestion drivers.

Squink Out!
