Good choices today Ralf!

While I enjoy Bach's keyboard works, I've never dug into them as I have his orchestral work. Bach's work is immediately his, nobody wrote like he did.

Van Halen on Jimmy Kimmel from last night. Roth was terrible, painfully and embarrassingly bad, I had to avert my eyes a few times (wish I could have averted my ears!), a complete train wreck. Eddie looked and played great, though. I wonder what he must be thinking of being on stage with Roth....

He had that oil-burning "Cadillac" once and went with the Ferrari; sorry to hear about that performance.

not surf but great
Les Planètes (Gustav Holst)
the first mouvement is amazing

The new Godspeed You Black Emperor album came out yesterday. The album is called "Asunder, Sweet And Other Distress" and I'm listening to it for like the 4th or 5th time already.

How this album is described by their label: Huge unison riffage, savage noise/drone, oscillating overtones, guitar vs. string counterpoint, inexorable crescendos and scorched-earth transitions.

Sums it up nicely. Check it out

On my third listen to The Aeroplane Over the Sea. Anybody else a fan? Absolutely 100% a perfect album.

I can't imagine hearing this in 1979, so damn amazing.

Jake, 1979 was my junior to senior transition in high school. My friends and I were all listening to prog rock. An older friend had turned me on to the Pistols about a year before. But 79 to 80 I had started searching out more punk music. I would go to record stores and just buy records and 7"s. Just rolling the dice as to whether they would be any good.
None of my friends liked it and I was becoming a sort of outcast. I didn't care. This music was fresh and primal, I couldn't and still can't get enough.
Now at 52 years old I'm still seeking the music less traveled. And it's always nice to revisit the music that started the journey.

Cactus- Restrictions. American hard rock at it's best.
