I really dig the Redwood for surf shows. The bar is cozy, bands seem to like the vibe and rock hard there. Bar is pretty good, staff friendly. I guess I dig the 'dive bar' more than tonier places like the Barkley, which I find stiff and overpriced, suburban in a non-humorous way. — |

The Barkley is one of the few places to consistenly support Surf Music. It's owned by Frankie (of the Volcanics) and his brother. I think the mid-century Steakhouse vibe complements Surf Music quite well. It usually draws a good crowd of SGV locals (something the Redwood often struggles with). I'm really looking forward to both shows. |
