Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings

Not surf, but you can't be from Augusta, Georgia and not like Soul and Funk. haha

A very nice lady and a phenomenal talent. Her latest album is up for a Grammy.

Radio Birdman (CD-box) I just got for my birthday, OK, not surf but best Australian protopunk ever and every surf fan has to know their 'Aloha Steve and Danno'!

Big Fan Here!
Dig this: Saw her and The Dap Kings with John Legend at The Kennedy Center performing Marvin Gay's "What's Going On" in it's entirety with orchestra on the anniversary of the Center AND the anniversary of Marvin's performance there.
It was so good and the audience was so moved we cried.
They played a first set of Marvin and Tammy songs.
Unbelievable.

Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff, I can definitely dig it!! Man, that's very cool you were able to see them perform in such setting. Wow, that's awesome! Thanks for sharing that story.

Sharon's niece works with me and she stopped by the hotel to meet me. Made working this weekend more enjoyable for sure.

NSSR - best of the classic era with JP.
Be there or be square. (Ahh, The Crusher!)
Cool
