Hi all! I've been a fan of the site for awhile now, but only recently became a member. I've been playing surf for quite awhile here in pittsburgh. And let me tell ya brother it's been lonely! Ha! Actually there are a couple of other great surf bands in town (the turbosonics & the retro-agents) My band is called Vertigo-go. We gig a good bit these days. We have standing monthly gigs at the local tiki establishment & our ultra-cool bowling alley in town. And we usually pick up a stray gig or two in addition. We do a mix of originals & covers. Just wanted to say hi. Here's a pick of the band on stage @ the Hollywood theater. Yes... those are space suits... It was a special occasion! ;)

We did a gig @ the theater for the pgh showing of "Iron Sky." A cheesy sci-fi flick about nazis on the moon! So we did our tribute to Germans & Space! Numan made the set list!

It was a rare weekend off for us, but I dj'd a surf/spy/exotica set @ the tiki bar on Thursday. Always cool stuff going, but you do have to dig a little.

Welcome to sg101! Very glad you're here. Jason of the Turbosonics is a member here.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, so I always perk up whenever anyone mentions it. I'll be out there this coming summer for my 45th high school reunion. It'll be at Westinghouse Park in Forest Hills, which is where I lived for a long time. If time and schedules permit, maybe I can catch a surf show or three.

Noel, That's crazy! We just went to see the Westinghouse Van Der Graff Generator while passing through to Somerset, Seven Springs!
Cheers,
Jeff

I know a lot of critics panned Iron Sky but I thought it was brilliant on a lot of levels, esp how the Nazis turn out to mere ideologues compared to modern American nihilists.
What Numan song did you play? Praying to the Aliens?

How have I not heard of you guys (or the Retro-Agents, for that matter)? The Turbos I know about. Maybe the Burgh is bigger (or more insular?) than I think. Still, my attempts to Craiglist a surf group together here have been in vain. Oh well, I know about you now. Good luck, and I'll keep an eye peeled for coming shows.

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania and lived in Pittsburgh for a few years - so always happy to hear of the Burgh's goings on. Best wishes for surf to really catch on there and hope to catch you playing live some day.
