Permalink Best substitute for a Fender Reverb Kit!

New Topic

There are not many great wet reverb emulators out there, or so I thought. When I saw this I ran out and picked one up. Any thoughts?

I have a Fender Reverb Unit and that pedal. I use the pedal with my bass but it isn't as good as the Fender Reverb Unit for guitar.

Ya it doesn't beat the real Fender unit but its a definitely a good sub. for young and broke surf players.

The video is pretty awful, the unit sounds a lot better in the right hands.

This little bad boy is arguably an even better substitute for about the same price. I have included a screen shot of the FUSE software that comes with it.

This one looks interesting. I can only find video reviews for the older "Spring Chicken" though

That would be pretty bad for surf. Surf reverb isn't really about having a lot of reverb it is the drippy sound.

Oh my, I need to get me one of those FRV1 pedals as well. Counting 5 RI reverb units since 2007...Pedal #17 - here we go...

IDK, maybe I treat 'em too good? I never kick my tank, everybody in the band knows only I am allowed to touch it. I take it back home after rehearsal. And some day they start to sound like a fuzz pedal. But I think it's the fact I live in europe and the power transformer Fender uses is killing the units. I've heard of units that simply went up in flames on stage. I don't have an answer to your question, but I do have a warranty on those units.

The Hicadoolas

sounds like you need to get a voltage transformer to put in line before the reverb unit.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Fender equipped the units with the 'right' transformers for 230V - at least that's what they say. But you are right. I should get a US model and simply use a voltage transformer.

I've been doing just that for years. Never had an amp or tank go up in smoke yet. Plugging stuff into the step-down tranny can be a bit inconvenient, but it sure beats buying five reverb units!
