Anyone ever string one up with 9s? I'm very tempted to spend my Sunday messing around and trying to get 9s to work on it.

Me, I always leave the whammy bar in when I put in the case. The trem releases pressure when depressed, which is what happens when stored in the case, so I don't see how it does any harm.
Yeah, I've stored mine that way since day one. Never thought twice about it.
No neck issues huh? Maybe I should just leave the thing on too.

I believe Kyle uses 9's on his. Usually the concern is not enough tension to stabilize the bridge issues. Maybe with a Mastery....

any way I would like to play it for maybe 3 years or so and then start thinking on getting an original one .. maybe a 70's model like Dinko´s or Dalivor from BM. What do you think, should I start saving money?
Julio, start saving! It may end up playing either better or worse than your AVRI, but you won't know until you get one. Buy well and you can always sell it later at a profit.

Not any that I've noticed. Are they supposed to be cased with the arm off?

Collet teeth? Talk me through this again. There's no 'teeth' on my tremolo arm. Its smooth and cylindrical. (or are there supposed to be teeth inside the sockety thing?)
The collet is the thing you stick the arm in. Near the bottom of it are four (I think, been a while since I looked) large teeth that you can, in theory, bend together with pliers to more snugly grab the arm. However I would not recommend doing this on an AVRI, as the collet metal is very brittle and you can easily snap the teeth off. I've done this, twice. Use teflon tape or Eddie Katcher's "put a slight bend in the arm" trick to make the arm stay put.

Tubeswell, here is another method for making the arm stationary. On this page you can see photos of the collet and the teeth:

OK, cased my AVRI JM with the trem arm on tonite. Good enough for a 'Verb, a TomorrowMan and a Thunderchief, I'm not arguing. FWIW, mine stays in place.

I used to take the trem arm out before casing my JM, but I feel that just contributes to it loosening in the collet. I always leave it in now. Also, I wouldn't mess with the collet teeth. I did, and they break easily.
The best thing you can do is put a slight bend in the trem arm. That has worked out great for me. The Stay-Trem sounds really interesting though...
