Not a fan of the modern Shadows but speaking of music DVDs, I recently re-watched the London Rock & Roll Show concert movie. Great to see Heinz live on stage again. Great stuff also from all the big names, especially considering it was shot in 1972.

Here's Heinz doing "C'mon Everybody"...

And while trying to locate a YouTube clip of Heinz on the show, I came across some totally mesmerizing clips of Little Richard performing live in France 1966.

Check out "Ready Teddy" for starters...

The film clip here is from V4 Victory. Not the film I'm watching, but it gives you an idea of what he could do on a bike.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" for me lately. The series is up on NetFlix and on YouTube. I love this show and he's a pretty interesting individual.

The guy is "The Shit!". I love watching his show. They should be showing this stuff to the kids in schools. There's also lots of great stuff on YouTube; discussions, lectures and interviews. It's funny, last week I found out about some essays the guy wrote on cannabis called; "Marihuana Reconsidered" under the pseudo name of Mr.X, haha!

We watched the entire Cosmos series in one of my classes in high school. Can't remember if it was Astronomy or AP Physics(we did a more advanced Astronomy unit in that class). I was an Astro/Physics major for two years. Hated math too much to get too deep in it, conceptually always quite bright, but shit at math.

Holy crap, great series!

My Grandfather worked for JPL and was part of the SETI project. He invited me to go with him to the Goldstone SETI/HRMS site for it's inaugural launch in 92. Carl Sagan was there and gave a cool speech and I actually got to meet him. Really cool guy. Ended up talking with him for about 10 minutes about SETI. I was only a junior in high school, and this guy was surrounded by the press and by NASA execs, and he took the time to chat with me. I'll never forget that day.

His Cosmos series is amazing. I need to re-watch it, its been too long.

As for Game of Thrones, I just got my BluRays in this weekend and am already a couple of episodes into it. They REALLY did an excellent job with it (so far). I've read the books and am a huge fan, but I was worried that they would butcher it. So far so good though!

Wow Josh, that's extremely cool you met Sagan! Screw athletes, scientists have always been my heroes.

That's pretty cool that he took the time to speak to you. And yes, Cosmos is amazing. I still need to finish watching the whole series.

The Deadbeats

Caught "Last Days Here" over the weekend:

LAST DAYS HERE, the new documentary from Don Argott and Demian Fenton (THE ART OF THE STEAL, ROCK SCHOOL), is a raw yet unexpectedly touching portrait of cult metal legend Bobby Liebling, chronicling his bid to resurrect his life and career after decades wasting away in his parents' basement. Liebling made his mark in the '70s as the outrageous frontman of Pentagram, a "street" Black Sabbath whose heavy metal riffs once blew audiences' minds. But various acts of self-destruction,multiple band break-ups and botched record deals eventually condemned his music to obscurity. Now in his 50's, wasted by hardcore drug use and living on the charity of his ever-patient mother and father (a former Nixon advisor), Bobby's music is finally discovered by the heavy metal underground. For over three years filmmakers (and metal musicians) Argott and Fenton are witnesses to his unbelievable journey, following the triumphs and downfalls of this underground icon at the crossroads of life and death.

It's a damn good documentary, and you definitely don't have to be a fan of the band to enjoy it. Really well made and engrossing, IMO.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

I'm going to have to see that Bobby Liebling doc, I know pretty nothing about his band, though I have been digging a couple Pentagram albums for a while.

Now watching a documentary/history series called "Ancient Inventions" from Terry Jones of Monty Python and Erik the Viking fame.

The Pentagram doc is indeed really engrossing. Highly reccomended!

I'm doing Twin Peaks again. Great show. Just finished TNG and Deep Space Nine, that is a hell of an undertaking but very worth it.

TV has gotten pretty poor in the past several years. For awhile it looked like TV was on a huge up and up, but something has happened...

I like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad, that is about all of currently airing dramas.
