Howdy,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I’ve only been heavily listening to surf music for a year or so. I live in Rhode Island, USA and surf music helps me make it through the winter, plus I love Hawaii so it reminds me of that. I love all things tiki related.

I’m an artist and when I paint I like to listen to surf instrumental music. I also work with developmentally disabled people and I’m putting together a surf band using midi based electric kazoos, it’s a ton of fun.

I’m looking to chat and possibly share cds. Some of my current favorite bands (in no particular order) are: Dick Dale, Tiki Tones, Susan and the Surftones, Reverb Syndicate, Atomic Mosquitos, Metalunas, Messer Chups, Docteur Legume, The Bambi Molesters, Sandblasters, but I’ve got quite a large supply of music.

I would love suggestions of some of your favorite bands new and old, please tell me what you like about any bands you suggest, Thanks.

Welcome to the group. My first suggestion would be to go to the downloads section and get the 2011 SG101 COMP. It is filled with songs by members of this board.

I'll get right on this. It sounds great.

I'd get them from the Archive.org links (see the bottom of the left side-bar for links). You can download them in bulk (as a big zip file), and the versions there have all the MP3 tags set correctly.

And yes, welcome to the site!

Greetings, and welcome Roy!

Roy, welcome! My recommendation would be to pick up the recent compilation Brave New Surf. It features 20 tracks from 2008 and later, and should be a very nice introduction to the wide variety of sounds in modern surf music as well as into some notable newer bands.

Hope you enjoy it here, and stick around for a while.
