I'm really anxious to hear this thing. Hopefully the Guitar Center down the road from me here has at least one, I'd love to play it and see if it's really all that great.

-Damon.

I don't know about the Lipstick PU's but the other Squier VM's that I have played are great guitars.
I'll take one over a MIM Fender any day.

If only it had a vintage-stained maple fretboard that matched the headstock. It would raise the price a hundred bucks, but that would be perfect.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Couldn't Agree more Noel!

Noel what ya want then is the CV 50 in Oly White!

If my Silver Sparkle Standard Strat didn't match my Jagmaster I would so get one of those!
I really, really like the old school Oly/Gold combo.

You have no idea how close I came to ordering that Oly White Squier CV 50 Strat with the gold-anodized pickguard, the J. Mascis Jazzmaster that matches it, and put a matching pickguard and paint job on my bass.

i've got one on order---the sea foam green one. i didn't realize so many people on sg101 actually played squiers. i love mine! i can't afford a "real" US made fender and the MIM aren't any better than the indonesian and chinese made squiers but are more expensive. so, i'll buy the squiers and be able to pay the house note at the same time. Shock
just my humble opinion. (but i would rather have the US made fender!!!!) Yes Yes Yes

Enjoying the surf,sun and sand!!

I had a Danelectro Hornet that sold me on Lipstick pickups, I'd love to play one of these and see how it sounds. Certainly looks cool.

To go with the Oly White bodies and Gold anodized aluminum pickguards of the Squier J. Mascis Jazzmaster and Squier CV 50's Strat, Fender need to bring out a matching Squier P-Bass.

This is beautiful, but just too expensive for me:

$299! If it sounds good, sign me up.

But fender didn't use lipsticks back during the golden age of surf.
Do these make a more surfy sound?

what, what, what? that one looks like Ferenc's guitar! I kinda want one now...

I'm actually planning to sell some old gear to buy one. Does anyone already have one and can he told us more about it ?

lipstick pups on fenders during the golden age of surf?? don't think so, i sure don't remember seeing any--but i could be wrong Hmmm

Me neither, but what do I know? I remember lipsticks on my '59 Danelectro Longhorn Bass and on a Strat knockoff a buddy had branded "Feather". But if this new Squier is as good as their recent offerings in terms of sound and build quality, I call it no harm, no foul.

There weren't any. I think what Fender is trying to do with the Vintage Modified line is to make guitars which would represent the kinds of modification that would have taken place if the modding craze of the past few years had taken place in the late fifties and early sixties. A sales gimmick. Not necessarily bad or good. Cool Strat, though.

Respect, Jeff

A nice tinted maple neck to accompany this squier strat.
