Tucked away on a back street in the most "undesirable" part of town...I found this gem. DJ's Record Shop, since 1968. Remember when they looked like this? And that's about 1/10th of the place. There is no order in how the LPs are arranged, so he told me to bring a list and he will dig out what he has... and he said, "Yeah, I got some Ventures in there somewhere".

I miss these types of shops! I'd spend hours rummaging through records to find that one album....

Congratulations on your discovery!

Wonderful. Literally. It's kind of like discovering King Tut's tomb. Have lots of fun, and let us know what you find. Does he sell on the Internet?

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

That's awesome! It's been probably 20 years since I've seen a shop like that. Be sure and let us know what you find.. Rock

Love it,
I would grab a stool and plop down and start looking at the boxes on the floor. Because most people only look thru the LPs up top.

That looks great. Just be careful, Rod Serling might step out and start with "Imagine a music fan ..."

"We're lousy, we can't play. If you wait until you can play, you'll be too old to get up there. We stink, really. But it's great," Johnny Ramone .

Cool.

Anyone remember that story a few years ago about the retired record shop owner (in NY, I think). He's kept a copy of everything that came through the store, and had something like 1.5 million records. He was getting on in years, and was trying to find someone to take the collection, preferably a museum or something...

Ratio, I think you're talking about this cat...

Wow, what a collection. Such a shame that nobody has picked it up. So much music from some of the best times, nobody can get now.

This old timer has a little rummage-sale shop down the street and he sells his old records for 1$ a piece. I've picked up almost 100$ worth, and I just cant believe I'm the only one buying. We're talking Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Elvis, etc... and nobody else is buying. I've got a couple albums that I cant find on CD or digital download anywhere, and my collection is tiny.

I love old record stores. Its too bad 99% of people don't care. Sad

I used to go to a place in Council Bluffs Iowa (across the river from Omaha) called Kanesville Kollectables. It was an old record shop like that. So much stuff you could barely move

Although I'm 42, I hit adult hood about the time CD's came on the scene, so one of my favorite jokes is "what are those big round black things with the little hole in the middle?" Kind of a knock on myself, but given my age there is a slight bit of plausibility to it.
